Welcoming new experiences to the Southern Great Barrier Reef trade landscape
Keppel Bay continues to evolve as a must-sell coastal and island playground, and we’re pleased to welcome two new operators bringing fresh, flexible ways for visitors to experience this iconic part of the Southern Great Barrier Reef.
These experiences respond strongly to current market demand for freedom, choice and hands-on exploration — while complementing existing reef, island and coastal product already featured across the SGBR.
Yeppoon Jet Ski Tours
Operating from Yeppoon, Yeppoon Jet Ski Tours introduces a guided, high-energy way to explore the Keppel coastline and surrounding islands. The experience offers access to secluded bays, sweeping coastal views and a dynamic on-water perspective that adds a strong adventure layer to the destination’s product mix.
This experience is particularly well suited to adventure-seeking FITs, couples, and younger domestic and international markets, as well as short-stay visitors looking to add a memorable, high-impact activity to their itinerary.
GKI Boat Hire
Based on Great Keppel Island, GKI Boat Hire offers a self-guided boating experience that allows visitors to explore nearby bays, beaches and snorkelling spots at their own pace. This product aligns strongly with families, repeat visitors, and longer-stay island guests seeking deeper, more personal exploration of Keppel Bay.
The experience complements island accommodation and slow-travel itineraries, providing flexibility and autonomy while encouraging extended time on the water.
Trade readiness & next steps
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be working collaboratively with both businesses to:
- Finalise commissionable trade rates
- Develop trade-ready product descriptions, imagery and fact sheets
- Refine inclusions, safety and operational messaging for domestic and international markets
- Identify packaging opportunities with accommodation, island stays and broader SGBR itineraries
