Following a successful appearance at ATE 2025, owner Mike reconnected with international partners — including Diana and Resi from Australia Tours and representatives from THL Germany — strengthening ties with some of Europe’s most passionate travel specialists. Their partnership continues to grow, with Traveller’s Rest 1770 set to welcome Resi and one of Australia Tours’ raffle winners to experience the magic of the Southern Great Barrier Reef in 2026.
Back home, Mike’s dedication to authentic, nature-based experiences was celebrated with a Silver Award for Queensland’s Top Tour Guide at the Queensland Tourism Industry Council Awards — a remarkable achievement for a small operator making a big impact. The Town of 1770 also took out Gold as Queensland’s Top Tiny Tourism Town, with neighbouring Agnes Water earning Silver for Top Small Tourism Town. To top it off, Traveller’s Rest 1770 was named among the Top 25 Gladstone Chamber of Commerce & Industry Best in Business nominees in the Tourism, Travel & Accommodation category.
The spotlight will shine even brighter this year as Travel Oz prepares to feature Traveller’s Rest 1770 and fellow Southern Great Barrier Reef operators in an upcoming Channel 7 Two segment hosted by Greg Granger.
And as the business looks ahead, new eco-friendly tiny house stays are on the way through a partnership with The Big Tiny Group — offering guests even more ways to reconnect with nature while treading lightly on the planet.
