Federal government funding to assist in resorting native vegetation on Lady Elliot Island

Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort are thrilled by the recent announcement by the Australian Government regarding the investment of $1.9 million to assist in restoring and rehabilitating the islands native vegetation.

Historically, Lady Elliot Island was a degraded landscape following guano mining in the 1800's which removed all topsoil and vegetation, leaving only bare rock. Past and present custodians have worked tirelessly in restoring the island back to its previous natural state.

The funding announced will ensure the continuation of the islands existing revegetation program and support in restoring hundreds of nesting seabirds and turtle habitat.

Final stage of Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort's refurbishments to be completed in August 2023

Lady Elliot Island (LEI) room refurbishments are nearing completion. LEI began refurbishment back in 2021 and the final completion of their last room type - the Garden Units, is scheduled to be completed by the end of August 2023.

The final Garden Unit refurbishment follows the upgrade of LEI's 2-Bedroom Beachfront Units and Reef Units.
